Oundle RFC 30-35 Wellingborough RFC

The lads were brilliant and battled through a strong Oundle pack with some great work from the forwards once again which left the backs free to pass the ball down the line and score some great tries shocking the Oundle team.

Wellingborough were the much better team going into a demanding 0-20 lead 20 minutes in. Alfie Plummer scored an early hat-trick each try was worked well with a number of phases being played by Wellingborough working they way up the pitch from their own 22. The fourth try was scored by Joshua Sanderson- quick thinking saw him snipe over the line. However Wellingborough weren't to have it all their way as Oundle struck two quick tries at the end of the first half.

Wellingborough once again started stronger in the second half but didn't execute their chances. They played the game in Oundle's half, however rapid thinking from the Oundle winger saw him intercept a pass and Oundle were back in the game as they were one try behind. Oundle got an equalising try as they once again pounced on a Wellingborough mistake, the game was 20-20. Each team scored two tries each and the score was 30-30 but a late try from George Diggin won Wellingborough the game despite late pressure from Oundle.
