Wellingborough RFC 25-20 S&L RFC

Wellingborough made it two consecutive wins in two weeks with a great win over S&L. The lads passed the ball like it was a summers day with extraordinary hands moving the ball wide which saw many tries scored.

With Ben Abruzzo missing from the squad changes were once again made in the backs. With Thomas Wood at fly half, George Diggin and Jamie Lewis at centres, Kieran Hopper was put to the wing and Ryan Mantle on the other. And as usual Daniel Short played at full back.

The lads dominated from the start which saw George Diggin score twice and Tom Wood and Ryan Mantle both scored, within 10 minutes of the first half Wellingborough were 15-0 up. Unfortunately George took a knock and had to leave the pitch however Wellingborough continued to press but didn't take their chances despite brilliant rucking from the forwards destroying the S&L pack. Wellingborough then conceded by panicking and no one stepping up to clear it.

At the end of the first half Thomas Woods was also off with an injury meaning more changes had to be made. But S&L still couldn't find a way back into the game with Daniel Short fielding kicks superbly. Despite a late comeback from S&L which made it 20-20 Taylor Barden had the last say to round off a brilliant performance from the lads.
